This is from PennState's Nittany Classic Crit in the Rodale
Fitness Park, 3/24/2001. Thanks for this one goes to Dan Pincus of
UPenn cycling for looking through his pictures from the weekend to see
if we appeared in any.

This race was a points race,
with primes at the 3rd and 6th laps. In the first sprint, I broke away
from the pack and grabbed 1st place. Lou sort of followed me, also
breaking away and grabbing 2nd in that sprint. The story goes that the
whole way around on the breakaway he was yelling at me to wait for
him, we were already killing the rest of the group. But, I couldn't
hear him and didn't realize it was him so I just kept going to go
faster trying to get away from this guy who was following me.
On the final lap, the same thing sort of happened except I couldn't
keep up the effort this time and fell back to 8th in the
sprint. However, Lou managed to grab 2nd---that's this photo. The
points I got for the first sprint got me fourth place in the final
standings, and Lou's two 2nd place finishes got him (of course) 2nd
place. I guess if we'd thought of it more and I'd known it was him
behind me he could have won the race if I'd handed the first sprint
over to him. Not really important, but an interesting strategy point.
I'm too far right, coming out of the outer edge of the final turn, to
be in this picture.
